Creating The Perfect Outdoor Grill Station: Tips and Tricks

The Perfect Outdoor Grill Station

Calling all grillmasters — is your station complete?

There are so many different ways you can customize your grill station to make unique, personable, and function exactly how you need it. The days of zooming in and out of your house while on the grill are in the past — or at least they should be. The perfect station has everything you could ever want so that you’re able to soak up the sun while you grill the perfect burger.

Outdoor living spaces aren’t complete without a kitchen or grill space. That being said, there are tons of ways you can create something truly special. Being a true grillmaster is all about how you can grill. And, the more comfortable and adaptable your grill station is — the more you’ll be able to create, for happier, fuller guests. Plus, a stylish grill will have your guest’s mouths watering for what you might prepare.

Whether your budget has some wiggle room or you’re on a tight squeeze, there’s always a way to get creative and come up with the perfect solution for your property. It’s all about inventive ideas and solutions to navigate any hurdles your yard or budget might have. This may be tough to do on your own, but it is possible. When it comes to additions that are complex, like outdoor kitchens, it’s usually a good idea to get a professional opinion. That way, you’re not creating a mess that might cost you a lot more down the road to fix.

Ok, so let’s get into all of the ways you can create the perfect outdoor grill station.

The Right Grill

This is the cornerstone of your grilling station. There’s probably no surprise here. Your grill is going to be the central hub and will determine any other additions you might want to add either immediately or down the line. Different decisions here could also influence what type of additions are even possible in the future.

So, what do you need to consider?

  • What works for your property?
  • What type of fuel do you want to use?
  • Are you building it into a counter or station?
  • Where is your station going to be?
  • Do you have an appliance material preference?

Answering these questions should help you navigate some of your other decisions. Shopping for a new grill can be a bit overwhelming. There are a ton of options to choose from and it can be pretty easy to become convinced that the wrong option is for you. The number one consideration needs to be what will work for your property. If you pick a grill that is too big or too complex, you risk a congested space or an overly complicated grill that you won’t end up using.

If we take a little tour back through our questions above, here are some tips. If you don’t know what type of fuel you plan on using — there are dual-fuel hybrids available. This takes a bit of the decision making off your plate and doesn’t stick you in a corner.

If you’re planning on building a grill into a full counter station, you more than likely have a bit of room to work with when it comes to the size of your grill. If not, there are grills with folding shelves — or smaller portable grills that can be built around. This gives the feel and appearance of a more expensive grill operation without spending too much.

Stainless steel has been the industry standard for outdoor kitchen appliances, mostly because it’s durable and goes with almost any style of existing landscaping. So, if you plan on creating an entire outdoor kitchen with cabinets and even an island — stainless steel is a great option.

Awesome Additions

One of the more popular additions to the grill station is a pizza oven. These can come in many varieties, some of which are stainless steel — but if you’re looking for a truly unique and special pizza oven, you can always go with clay. Clay or brick pizza ovens have a special look and feel to them, plus you’ll be able to have incredible wood fire pizza right in your backyard. Steel is a good option if you plan on moving the oven around.

If you love that incredible slow-cooked taste, you can add a smoker to your outdoor grill station for the ultimate taste variety. There’s no better way to impress guests than smoking your favorite meats while enjoying a cold one outside.

You can even add flat top griddles if you enjoy the hibachi style vegetable cooking or even breakfast prep. These are typically a bit more expensive and will probably only fit in the larger grilling stations — but if you enjoy a well-rounded sear and versatility, it’s a good purchase.
