Office Buildings Need Patio Designs, Too

Many elements we use for landscape designs around homes here in Minnesota work well for commercial properties like office buildings also.

Just like residential buildings, offices also can benefit from having patios outside.  Not only is this a way to show off a the unique look of a business but it can invite clients and customers inside. With the right patio design, your commercial patio can look its best, while inviting one and all to come inside.

  • Another benefit of having an inviting patio right outside your office is you’re providing a relaxing spot for your employees to take a break, enjoy lunch outdoors, or just recharge and de-stress.  Employees who have something like this available tend to be happier in their jobs and more productive.

Tips for Office Patio Designs

Plants are one of the most popular, colorful and inviting ways to set the mood for your space. When you add plants throughout the area, whether in the ground or in pots, you can change the way the entire landscape looks and feels.  Container plants and raised beds are the easiest to maintain, but mulched beds of low-maintenance foliage plants work well, too.  Just choose varieties that have stand-out texture, color, or other intriguing characteristics.

A water feature is also another soothing, beautiful way to make your business stand out from the others. With a water feature such as a bubbling fountain or a mini-waterfall, you’re showcasing how different you are from other businesses around.  Plus you’re providing a spot for people to sit and enjoy the soothing sounds and sights of water.

Shade is a must, since you want to give your visitors and employees someplace to sit, but you also do not want them to be fried by the sunlight.  You can do this by tables with market umbrellas or pergolas.  Providing a comfortable, shaded atmosphere complete with beautiful colors from the flowers and sounds from the water invites anyone into the space.

Creating a patio space out of stamped concrete, pavers or stones of some sort can also provide a nice touch. When you set up the space, consider how much room you’re going to need for the furniture, plants and anything else you’re going to be placing in the area. You also want to consider the size of the land you have to work with.
