Indoor Flowers: Forcing Narcissus for Winter Enjoyment

Although the flower beds in the Minneapolis area have long since gone dormant, that’s no reason not to enjoy the beauty of real, live flowers.  One popular indoor flower for the winter holiday season is the paperwhite narcissus.   Many garden centers around town have narcissus and other plants such as amaryllis for sale.  Growing flowers also make a lovely gift if you’re looking for ideas for that special hostess on your list.  Wine is generally a welcome gift, but imagine the delight your hostess will feel when you hand her a blooming plant!

For continued enjoyment throughout the winter, you can buy bulbs and then easily force them to bloom – this article tells you how.  It will take about 4-6 weeks.  Won’t you and your guests enjoy the beauty of live blooms on your table or your mantle when it’s cold and snowy outside?
